The Real Face of Adoption...

Image
I want to talk about adoption for a minute.. not the wonderful experience of being chosen by birth parents and all the joys of taking your baby home... I'm talking about the sacrifice the birth mom makes. The sacrifice her whole family makes . So many times I'm told how amazing Jeff and I are for adopting and there is a lot of the time some negativity about the birth mom and birth family. I've  adopted 6 children , with that there are 5 birth moms who never thought they'd be in the position of having to give their baby to another woman to raise. They did not want to do this.. they each loved their children. They each wished they where in a place to raise their children. I saw their hearts break .. not only theirs but their mothers also.. these woman are not selfish. They are not bad mothers. They are selfless and wonderful mothers- they chose to put their babies happiness and well being over their own. I've been blessed with amazing birth moms that for some reason

January 4th... I've seen story's on Facebook where string or hair gets wrapped around babies fingers and toes... so I made it a habit years ago with Colt when he'd get up from naps to check him and I carried this habit over to each child. Thank God that I did. Today when I got Jett up his toe had a hair wrapped tightly around it. I was able to get most off but couldn't get it all. I called my neighbors and they came to the rescue. Tony brought his magnifying glasses and tools and went to wo rk. Thankfully we didn't have to go to the ER.. if not for Tony that's probably where I'd be now. As for now I'm keeping a close eye on it .. but other then his toe being swollen and sore it looks ok. Do if you have a baby.. MAKE IT A HABBIT to ALWAYS check their feet!! I want to stress this can happen in a minute! Right before his nap I had bathed Jett and cut his fingernails and toenails. The only thing I can think happened was Storrie loves to kiss his

On November 19th 2013...you changed my life forever.   I will never forget the moment you were placed in my arms. My hands shook as I looked into your beautiful brown  eyes and kissed your tiny button nose.  You smelled like an angel and have been a ball of light ever since that day. Always content, sweet and joy-filled. You were everything from the first moments.  You are my little light, you light up every room.  You are my doll baby , you are brave and adventurous and confident and independent. Your personality is infectious sweet  Storrie. I truly cannot believe you are mine.  Your smille melts  me in a million ways!  Thank you for being you, for filling a hole in my heart that I never knew existed.  I am the luckiest, love, momma For your birthday we gave you a small "party" at home (your big party will be with Lilly in December) It was extra special since Aunt Tonia was in town and got to celebrate with us. We went to CiCi's pizza and had a B
