Colt's 4th Birthday (the decorations)

Yesterday we finally celebrated Colt's 4th birthday party.

Picking a theme that both a truck obsessed little boy and a mommy obsessed with pretty things can both be happy with can tend to be bit difficult. I finally decided to give in and do a "Dump Truck Party", but put a fun and colorful twist on it.

For the treat table we had Boulders(cheese puffs), Wrecking Balls (tangerines), Rope (liquorish), Pebbles (Reece's Pieces), Spare Tires (chocolate donuts), Paint Brushes (rice krispy treats), marshmallow's on a stick and of course cup cakes.

We had a separate table set up for drinks and ice.

We had lemonade and green punch. The ice is in the wheel barrel:)

We set up four big round tables and set a place for each child.
Every one got their own sack lunch with a fruit squeeze and PB&J sandwich in it ( their was also brisket and some other yummy food in the house for the adults). They also got their own cup that looks like a cone, a work hat and a dump truck.

For fun we had a bouncy house and sandbox.

As you can guess, setting a party up like this is not easy. I was almost all done putting the decorations out on the table (no food yet) when our yard guy was finishing up the back yard. He turned on the blower and TONS of dirt blew all over the tables. We had to take everything apart and clean it up. My sweet mother called about this time and I was in tears. I was running out of time and still had to get dressed, dress Lilly and Colt and do a few things in the house. She came right over and helped me clean up and finish all the last minute details. Also. the girl who made the cup cakes, Tiffany, and other goodies came early and was a BIG help. With out those two and Brenna I would not of been able to get everything ready in time.

Jeff drove Colt around doing last minute errands so I could set up. I will never for get when they came back and Colt saw everything, his little face was glowing up and he said "Wow Mom.. This is all for me?? Thanks Mom. This is the best birthday party I ever had". Seeing his joy melted my heart.

Stay tuned for part two of Colt's party:)

  1. Amazing! I am so in love with the decoration and arrangement. The idea of paint brushes and tires is out of the world! This blog has given me lots and lots of innovative ideas of celebrating a kid’s birthday. I have booked one of the venues in NYC for my son and I am definitely going to try being this innovative!
