Family.. part 1... Getting together

Last week was such a special time for me. My oldest brother, Curtis, was getting married so my younger brother and sister used this as an excuse to come visit.
As with everything in my life , the story of my brothers and sister is totally crazy. I am going to share just a little family history so you understand just how important this time together is to me.
My parents where married for 16 years. In this time they had three kids. Curtis, Lewis and me. When i was 5 years old they divorced and sadly my Dad was not a part of our lives (I was able to forgive him and have a relationhip when I was a adult.. but that is another story for another time). When I was 10 my dad and his new wife had twins. A boy, James and a girl, Kim. I was so excited to have a little brother and sister. But our Dad and his new family lived in another state and I did not get to see them but a handful of times growing up. I always thought of them and loved them though.
Sadly when I was 28 and they 18 our father passed away. Kim and I had gotten to know one another a little by then. We started trying to get to know one another better and became very close. Same with James. He even moved to Midland for a short period of time.

I grew to love them not just because we shared a father but because they are amazing people.
James and I became close and built a wonderful friendship. Kim and I have grown to have the sister relationship I always dreamed of. I adore them both and am so thankful that they are in my life.
I was super excited when our oldest brother invited them to his wedding and they agreed to come.

Kim flew in the Tuesday before and stayed 6 days. We had so much fun.I cannot begin to tell you what a amzing, strong young woman she is. She has gone through so much 1the past few years but where most woman would crumble she grew stronger. She is not only the most beautiful girl on the outside, but on the inside as well. I am so proud of her. She is also one of the best mothers I have ever seen. As a single mom she is devoted to her almost 2 year old baby boy Mason.
I had such a amzing time with her visit. We really got to know one another even better.
There is not words to say how much I love my little sister

Mason and his Uncle Jeff become instant buddies
A few days after Kim arrived, my nephew... Curtis Jr (who is actually a few months older then the twins) arrived from Georgia with his family. His wife , Arminda,is the sweetest thing ever and I am totally in love with my niece Sara. They, a long with my mom and step-dad came over for dinner (I was sad James and his wife had not made it yet). It was so much fun catching up. I loved seeing my mom accept and fall in love with Kimmie and Mason.

Just like my father, his grandfather, Curtis never smiles
Unlike my dad he is really funny

Finally late Thursday night James and Shawna made it. This was my first time meeting my new sister in law who is expecting her first baby (James' 3rd). I totally love this girl. Even though it feels weird that she is only a year older then my oldest daughter. They were only able to stay until saturday afternoon, but I treasured every minute with them. As I am with Kim, I am so proud of James. He is such a wonderful father to his twin boys and so loving to his wife. He has come so far and is a much better father and man then our own Dad was. Sadly I did not get very many pictures of them while they were here (got a few at the wedding which will be posted later on my next post)I ust wish so much we would of had more time together.

Here are some more pictures from Kim and Mason's vistit.... As always, be preparred for picture over load.

you know you have to have at least one cousin in the tub photo

This picture cracks me up... When I explained to Colt that Kimmie and Mason where getting ready to go home and that we where going to have to take them to the airport, Colt got his suit case and packed his favorite cars to go with them.

Right before Curtis and his family left Arminda brought Sara over so we could get some pictures of Sara and Lilly in their matching dresses.

I have to say I really enjoyed spending time with Arminda. We got to go shopping together and spend some other time together. I am in love with my sweet niece in law. They are talking about moving here when Arminda finishes school in 9 months. I really hope they do. I would love the chance to watch Sara grow up and to become close friends with Arminda.
