GO DAWGS!!!!
I have been meaning to blog about this since Friday night. I swear I must be the worlds worse blogger EVER!!
Anyone who has ever been to Midland/Odessa knows that we are crazy for our football. The high schools become mortal enemy's every year. Everywhere you look you see different T-shirts supporting one of the college teams. And don't you even dare forget about them Cowboy's.
To be honest, I have never really gotten into football. It was just something that annoyed me. Like I said, people around here just get stupid. All the good shows on TV are replaced by games and your man forgets you even exist.
I started going to MHS games with Jeff three years ago. Not because I really wanted to, just trying to be a "good" wife. Plus I got to eat cotton candy without guilt.
This not liking football changed 2 1/2 years ago when I became a momma to my football crazy baby boy. I have to admit.... I have had visions of my little love bug as a football hero like his daddy. Being the starter at MHS. His face in the paper every week. People in our town being impressed that I am Colt's mom. Maybe one of these days playing at Tech or Princeton (again, like his Daddy) Then, of course, one of these days he would go on to be one of the Boyz.. The Dallas Cowboys.
Of course those were just fleeting fantasies. Did not put too much thought into it. That is until last year when Colt was running all over the house playing. Then all the sudden he stops and stares at the TV and starts yelling..."fuuuubawllllll". He stood there and watched for a good 15 minutes. At this time he would not even watch cartoons, but he would watch football. He was only 18 months old. My baby wh would never sit still would go to the MHS games and actually watch. He was mesmerized .
About a month ago we where driving by the local football stadium and from the back seat we hear " Momma, momma... Fuuuubawwwwl. Look... Fuuuubawwwwl. Daddy, Daddy... seeeee fuuuubawwwwl.
This Friday night we went to our first MHS game this year. Colt was so excited that he was shaking. He was overwhelmed. Excited and just a little scared by all the people and noise. But soon he relaxed and had a blast.
This was also Lilly's first game ever. I was having them all game shirts made, but it did not come together in time. Last minute I found this onesie for Lils at "It's a Small World".
Ollie and Bren got T shirts at the game. But there was not anything to fit baby Colt. Next game he will be all dressed up.
Then Brenna caught a shirt that was being thrown in the stands. You would think it was a million dollars. She was so thrilled.
We all had a blast. I have to admit, I have come to look forward to these Friday nights. It is such wonderful family time.I am loving getting outfits together for the kids. And I can see myself becoming more and more of one of those crazy West Texas football crazy women.
